After a chat with my internist this week, I am now officially eating OATMEAL -- me, the person who hates cereal of all sorts -- and like it, in spite of myself.
I got Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Oatmeal, added a bunch of raisins, some almond milk, and Agave as a sweetener. Perhaps the rest of the world understands this already, but oatmeal is quite filling, and kept my energy level up for most of the day.
I've experimented and made up enough for four servings, without the added goodies, so I can zap a meal's worth in the microwave, with the raisins, perhaps some almonds, maybe some soy milk, and have it ready to eat quickly. I cut the prep time, but it still takes me a long time to actually eat it.
I've got to get my LDL cholesterol down by 50 points soon, or listen to my doctor and try statin drugs, which I've resisted for several years. I've started a program that includes oatmeal, flax seeds, and several other items daily. As I incorporate this major change in my lifestyle, I'll report on how it's going. I retest in three months. Wish me luck!
Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Oatmeal is available in most health food stores around the country, and on line, from a variety of GF sites, plus directly from Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free site http://www.bobsredmill.com/gluten-free/.

I was fortunate to live about 1 mile from Bob's Red Mill for a couple of years. A great place, they also serve GF meals in the restaurant.I make my own granola from the GF oatmeal and eat it with milk or yogurt. I also make apple crisp with lots of oatmeal topping and have that for breakfast sometimes too.
